Music monasteries and churches, are recurring themes in and around Kraków. Cracovia Sacra Night, takes place on 14th-15th August 2017, combining religion, art and music, performed and presented in places of worship, as part of the Kraków Night (Krakowskie Noce) Series of events.The theme for this years edition is “Treasures of the Cracovian Monasteries” featuring  a series of 19 concerts performed in Kraków’s churches, temples, convents  and monasteries together with exhibitions and accompanying events in a variety of interesting religious locations.

Cracovia Sacra Night is one of a series of cultural night festivals, including Museum Night (Noc Muzeów), Poetry Night (Noc Poezji), Music Night (Noc Muzyki), Theatre night (Noc Teatrów)and Jazz Night (Noc Jazzu).

The opening of this year’s Cracovia Sacra Night takes place on Monday, 14th August at 7.45pm in the church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, Augustiańska 7, (kościele p.w. św. Katarzyny Aleksandryjskiej).

The first concert will begin at 8pm, with a performance of Symphony No 1 of the “Baptism” for choir and symphony orchestra – the world premiere, (F. Schubert, P. Sydor, performed by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, and Górecki Chamber Choir.

Whilst admission to all events is free of charge,  tickets or reservations may be required for some events, which will be available, from 8th August,  from the Tourist Centre at ul. Powiśle 11.  Check the programme for details.
