On the night of Friday, 15th-16th May, the popular Museum Night (Noc Muzeów w Krakowie 2026) will take place in museums across the city.
The Night of Museums is part of the Krakow Nights series (Krakowskie Noce) – a project that includes seven events promoting the culture, history and heritage of the city. As part of the Krakow Nights series, there will also be a Dance Night (this year on May 23), Theatre Night (June 13), Jazz Night (July 18), Cracovia Sacra (August 14 and 15) and Poetry Night (from October 9 to 11). This cycle is aimed at both residents of Krakow and tourists, and its goal is to popularise participation in culture through various events.
Museum Night 2026
Museum Night is a unique opportunity to rediscover Krakow – both its centuries-old heritage and the contemporary face of culture. The event brings generations together, encouraging you to spend time together in places that are not always available or visited on a daily basis.
The program of this year’s edition includes hundreds of attractions prepared by institutions throughout the city. Participants will be able to visit permanent and temporary exhibitions, take part in curatorial tours, family workshops, reconstruction shows, concerts or interactive museum games. Many events have been prepared specifically for May 15 – these will include night walks, performances, scientific experiments and meetings with experts and enthusiasts of various fields.
Among the attractions will be, among others, proposals that go beyond classic sightseeing and allow you to experience museums in the form of a game, experiment, performance and interaction with space – often in places that are usually inaccessible or shown in a completely new context.
Since 2004, the city’s museums and galleries have opened their doors for the ‘Night of Museums’ (Noc Muzeów), modelled on Berlin’s “Lange Nacht der Museen”, as part of the ‘Kraków Nights’ (Krakowskie Noce) series – consisting of Theatre, Dance, Jazz, Poetry and Cracovia Sacra nights.
Admission to most museums is payable, usually a token fee of 5zł – all museums are subject to prior registration and reservations.
Registration and reservations are available on the websites of each museum participating in the Night of Museums.
