On Saturday, 6th December, the Kraków Christmas tree lights were switched on, watched by a huge crowd who gathered for the event.
The heart of Kraków transformed into a winter wonderland as the Christmas tree lights in the Market Square were officially switched on.
Our video captures it all – the Christmas tree shimmering against the backdrop of the Sukiennice and Bazylika Mariacka, together with the festive stalls of the Christmas Market filled with handmade crafts, warm mulled wine, and the charming children’s carousel turning gently as families and children soaked in the atmosphere.
Kraków at Christmas feels quite special. Whether you’re visiting the market or simply enjoying the view from afar, we hope this video brings you a little of the city’s holiday magic.

Watch our drone footage from the market square on the evening the lights were switched on here. The techy bit, for anyone into video/photo : Filmed on DJI Pocket 3 (1080) the elevated shots were filmed using a 3m ‘selfie stick’ extended to the full 3m, it got a bit shoogly at times, but the built in DJI P3 gimbal does a pretty decent job – no post edit stabilising.
