On the night of Friday, 17th-18th May, the 20th Jubilee edition of the popular Museum Night (Noc Muzeów w Krakowie 2024) will take place, with the theme “Museums for education and research” (“Muzea na rzecz edukacji i badań”)
More than 60 establishments will take part this year. Most museums extend their opening hours for Museum Night, with special programmes which include permanent and temporary exhibitions, making available unique places that are normally inaccessible to visitors, as well as special attractions: workshops, multimedia presentations, shows and guided tours.
Since 2004 the cities museums and galleries have opened their doors for the ‘Night of Museums’ (Noc Muzeów), modelled on Berlin’s “Lange Nacht der Museen”, as part of the ‘Kraków Nights’ (Krakowskie Noce) series – consisting of Theatre, Dance, Jazz, Poetry and Cracovia Sacra nights.
Admission to most museums is payable, usually a token fee of 5zł – all museums are subject to prior registration and reservations.

Pre-booking and purchase of a ticket, often for a token amount of 1zł may be required.
HOT AIR BALLOONS AT AIR MUSEUM
Weather permitting, there will be a night show of hot air balloons at the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow. as part of this year’s edition of Museum Night.
The Air museum program includes:
– Opening of the exhibition about Krakow’s 2nd Aviation Regiment
– Field games
– Visiting the interiors of selected exhibits
– Modelling workshops (prior registration required)
– Educational zone for children – games, fun, quizzes, folding paper airplanes
– Aviation photo booth – stylised aerial photos
– Film screening
– Night hot air balloon show
Entrance tickets will cost PLN 5.
