Night of Museums 2021

Noc Muzeów w Krakowie 2021

Today, the 17th edition of the popular Museum Night (Noc Muzeów w Krakowie 2021) makes a welcome return, albeit with a restricted programme

This year’s Museum Night, will of course be slightly different to previous years due to Covid restrictions and to ensure public safety.

Thirty eight establishments will take part this year.  In normal years, most museums extend their opening hours for Museum Night, remaining open through the night, however, due to Covid, many will restrict their opening hours to normal hours, only a few – the Museum of Municipal Engineering, the Polish Aviation Museum and the Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts, choosing to open extended hours, with others, such as the Jagiellonian University Museum Collegium Maius and the Stary Teatr Museum, offering online participation only.

The programme includes permanent and temporary exhibitions, making available unique places that are normally inaccessible to visitors, as well as special attractions: workshops, multimedia presentations, shows and guided tours.

Since 2004 the cities museums and galleries have opened their doors for the ‘Night of Museums’ (Noc Muzeów),  modelled on Berlin’s “Lange Nacht der Museen”, as part of the ‘Kraków Nights’ (Krakowskie Noce) series – consisting of Theatre, Dance, Jazz, Poetry and Cracovia Sacra nights.

Admission to most museums is payable, all museums are subject to prior registration and reservations.

Registration and reservations are available on the websites of each museum participating in the Night of Museums.
