The 16th edition of the OFF CAMERA International Festival of Independent Cinema starts on Friday 28th April and runs until 7th May.

The festival showcases the best of International and Polish independent cinema, with an international jury awarding two main prizes.

The International films in the “Making Way” Competition will compete for the Andrzej Wajda Krakow Film Award, granted by an international jury with a rather impressive prize of  $25,000.

The Polish Feature Film Competition is dedicated to those Polish titles that opened throughout the past year.  Ten feature films will compete for the Dominika Kulczyk & dFlights Award in the Polish Feature Film Competition, granted by an international jury awarding a prize of 100,000zł.

The Festival ‘IDEA‘ in their own words: 
In 2023, during the upcoming 16th edition of the Festival, the Mastercard OFF CAMERA audiences will see films screened in regular, well-known and popular sections: American Indies – dedicated to daring, uncompromising and fascinating American cinema and Best of Fests – showcasing interesting productions awarded at international film festivals, that the Polish audience will have an opportunity to see on the silver screen, often for the first time.

You can also expect a multitude of amazing novelties: with four completely fresh film sections, the Festival audience will go on an unforgettable journey through film genres, conventions, phenomena and trends. On top of that, join us for numerous meetings with guests, film directors, special screenings, workshops, discussions and accompanying events.

GALA OPENING
American actor, director, theatre and film producer John Malkovich will personally welcome the viewers of the 16th edition of the Mastercard OFF CAMERA International Independent Film Festival during the Festival Opening Gala, which will take place on April 28, 2023. That evening, viewers at the Kijów Cinema in Krakow will see the film “Dominion” – it is the European premiere of the film, which focuses on the last day of the life of the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.


OUTDOOR SCREENINGS

Films are screened at the main festival cinemas, Kino Pod Baranami, Kino Kijow and MOS (Małopolski Ogród Sztuki), along with open air screenings at Galeria Krakowska (Jan Nowak-Jeziorański Square), Plac Szczepański and Rynek Podgórski.

New for 2023, and sure to be one of the highlights will be film screenings at the Botanical Gardens.

Once again Plac Szczepański hosts the ‘Film Town‘.  The Festival Centre will be based in the beautiful Potocki Palace on Rynek. The festival club will be at Hevre in Kazimierz.
