New Public Transport Ticket Prices

Effective from 1st February 2021

New public transport ticket prices come into effect from today, Monday 1st February 2021.  The changes include a new 5+1 half year ticket, exclusively for Kraków City Card (KKM – Krakowska Karta Miejska) holders.

 

New penalty charges have also been introduced:-

  • for the lack of a valid ticket (transport document or a document confirming the right to travel free of charge) – 240 zł
  • for the lack of a valid document confirming the entitlement to reduced travel – PLN 160
  • for violation of the provisions on the transport of goods and animals – PLN 160
  • for causing an unjustified stop or change of the vehicle route – PLN 520

    Additional fees will be reduced to 30% or 50% (if paid within seven days of issuing the request for payment).

The New 5 + 1 Ticket (for Krakow City (KKM) card holders only)

The cost of the new 5 + 1 half year ticket, is 420 zł,  however, you will not have to pay the full amount in advance. The fee will be charged automatically every month from the payment card indicated by the passenger – for five months it will be 80 zł, and for the sixth month it will be 20 zł or in the case of a concessionary ticket – 40 zł for five months and 10 zł for the sixth month.

What about existing tickets?
Passengers also ask what to do with the purchased validating tickets and season tickets? krakowwpigulce.pl asked this question of MPK  Kraków  spokesman, Marek Gancarczyk.

“All season tickets purchased before the effective date of the resolution may be used until their expiry date, in accordance with the rules applicable so far. All unused validating tickets with an outdated price may be exchanged at the Ticket Sales Points for an additional fee for other validating tickets selected from the current ticket offer. Tickets for validation with an outdated price expire 6 months from the date of entry into force of the resolution (July 31, 2021). –  informs the spokesman.”

Time tickets to be validated, the so-called short-term:

  • 20-minute ticket – PLN 4 normal, PLN 2 reduced
  • 60-minute or single-ride – PLN 6 regular, PLN 3 reduced
  • 90-minute ticket – PLN 8 regular, PLN 4 reduced
  • 70-minute ticket (shared with Małopolska Railways) – PLN 7 regular, PLN 3.50 reduced

Ticket prices are the same for all ticket zones.

Single-ride tickets for validation, group tickets up to 20 people:

  • For the first ticket zone – PLN 50 normal, PLN 25 reduced
  • For all zones – PLN 60 normal, PLN 30 reduced

Time tickets to be validated, the so-called long-term:

  • For the first ticket zone:
    • 24-hour – PLN 17 regular, PLN 8.50 reduced
    • 7-day – PLN 56 regular, PLN 28 reduced
  • To all ticket zones:
    • 24-hour – PLN 22 normal, PLN 11 reduced
    • 48-hour ticket – PLN 35 normal, PLN 17.50 reduced
    • 72-hour ticket – PLN 50 normal, PLN 25 reduced

Travel agencies will have the opportunity to obtain a personal Krakow Tourist Card for their clients, entitling the holders to multiple journeys in all zones:

Additional fees (if paid within seven days of issuing the request for payment, the fee is reduced to 50% or 30% of the value):

  • for the lack of a valid ticket (transport document or a document confirming the right to travel free of charge) – PLN 240
  • for the lack of a valid document confirming the entitlement to reduced travel – PLN 160
  • for violation of the provisions on the transport of goods and animals – PLN 160
  • for causing an unjustified stop or change of the vehicle route – PLN 520

Other payments:

  • for activities related to the collection of an additional fee or issuing a request for payment in the event of their redemption – PLN 16
  • for the repeated and subsequent issuance of an electronic card (carrier of season tickets and slow travel tickets) – PLN 8
  • no fees are charged for the first issue of an electronic card (carrier of periodic tickets)
  • there are no fees for the transport of animals and luggage
