A temporary music and light art installation entitled ’25 Her(t)z’ opens tonight on Plac Szczepanski, promoting Kraków’s partner city, Leipzig – ‘the city of music’

’25 Her(t)z’, opens tonight (Thursday 18th May) at 8pm with the participation of the artists and special guests from Leipzig, followed by a light and sound show until 10pm.  The Installation will thereafter operate from 11am – 8pm from Friday 19th May to Sunday 21st May.

From Thursday to Sunday evening,  people are invited to experience Leipzig’s long musical tradition and diversity around the 5-meter-high installation located in the centre of Plac Szczepański.

As music is the central theme of the event, kids (and adults) are encouraged to bring their own instruments, sing or play music on the red miniature piano on-site.

The day always ends with a very special light-and-sound performance each evening with changing displays of colours and musical elements that create a fascinating experience.

’25 Her(t)z’ is a collaboration between the French light artist Philippe Morvan and Leipzig musician Mike Dietrich, resulting in a unique work of art combining light and music

The high 5 meter “sculpture” consists of 128 dice with letters that resemble the names of famous Leipzig composers – Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Wagner. Colourful cubes spread around the installation encourage you to stop, look, listen and learn more about Leipzig music.

As an added bonus there will be a competition where you can win a trip to the music city of Leipzig. In the evening, the installation will come alive with colours and lights accompanied by a fascinating symphony of sounds.
